Now it's Time for You to Become a Solar Superhero.
Use Your Power for GOOD!
Thank you for visiting our site and showing your community support for local clean energy production.
The idea of forming "The New York Clean Energy Alliance" stemmed from five years of experience in the community solar industry. As a subscriber organizer, my role involves finding, educating, and enrolling community members in local community solar projects.
From my first day in the industry to the present, a consistent comment from 90% of the hundreds of electricity customers I've assisted is: "What is community solar? It sounds too good to be true. Let me do some research."
Once we explain to consumers how it actually works and they completely understand: Community Solar is a state-run program offering benefits to participating electricity customers triggers an "Aha!" moment.
By joining a local community solar project, they will receive monthly bill credits and stop overpaying for electricity.
Our goal is to continually create that "Aha!" moment by educating consumers on a large scale and enrolling New Yorkers interested in saving money and the planet into local clean energy initiatives such as Community Solar.
Thank You for Visiting,

HOW DO I GET COMMUNITY SOLAR?
Each month, the solar panels of your solar farm will produce energy. Since you are participating member in New York's community solar the program, part of the energy is yours. The energy then gets converted to dollars and appears on your bill, the same bill you have always received, as a 10% clean energy CDG credit.
Generating energy that produces no greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels and reduces air pollution. Diversifying energy supply and reducing dependence on imported fuels. Solar panels produce 0 grams per kWh. Natural gas 0.91 lbs of CO2 per kWh. Petroleum 2.13 lbs of CO2 per kWh. Coal 2.23 lbs of CO2 per kWh.
~16,027 Pounds Annually
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency; Calculations and References page: The average home in the United States emits 10.97 metric tons of CO2 per year from the production of all the energy use combined for the home, versus 7.27 metric tons = to 16,027 pounds of CO2 per year from electricity alone
~Over 2,000 Jobs Added
New York had nearly 171,000 clean energy workers at the end of 2022, an increase of 5,800 jobs since 2021. Clean energy job growth took place across all technology sectors: Building decarbonization and energy efficiency added over 2,000 jobs and accounted for 75 percent of all clean energy employment in 2022.
More than 85% percent of a solar photovoltaic (PV) module is made of materials we already know how to recycle, like aluminum and glass.Recycling solar panels is an emerging yet crucial aspect of managing the growing number of solar installations in the United States. Here are some key facts about solar panel recycling currently in place:1. Lifespan and Disposal: Solar panels typically last around 25 to 30 years.2. Recyclable Components: Solar panels are made from various materials, including silicon solar cells, metal framing, glass sheets, wires, and plexiglass.3. Recycling Processes: There are several methods to recycle solar panels:- Re-use or Refurbishing: Some panels can be refurbished and reused, though their efficiency may be reduced.- Mechanical Recycling: This involves physically breaking down the panels to separate different materials.- Chemical/Thermal Recycling: This process uses chemical treatments or heat to extract valuable materials from the panels.4. Economic and Environmental Impact: Recycling solar panels not only helps in reducing landfill waste but also conserves rare and expensive elements like gallium and indium.5. Initiatives and Programs: The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has established the National PV Recycling Program to develop best practices for end-of-life management of solar panels. These recycling efforts are crucial for creating a sustainable clean energy economy and ensuring that the growth of solar power continues to benefit the environment without contributing to waste and pollution.Good Question...Glad You Asked!

"Many of our customers are already taking advantage of the benefits."Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) believes that community distributed generation (CDG) is a new chapter of renewable energy in New York and is making a difference in the state's clean energy future. CDG is a growing space as more renewable energy sources, like solar farms, are added to the energy grid.
"Have an electric bill? You can go solar. Community solar lets anyone* plug in to the sun and save an average of 5-10% per year."
Community solar is best understood as an annual program. This makes sense because it’s based on the sun. The important thing to keep in mind is you will always save in the long run because you’re purchasing solar credits for 90 cents on the dollar, and some portion of your electric bill (sometimes all of it) will always be offset by the face-value of these credits.

Making Solar Energy More Accessible. Sharing the wealth of lower electricity bills by making solar energy accessible to everyone. Community Solar provides many benefits of solar without any of the hassle. Community solar, often referred to as Community Distributed Generation (CDG), makes solar energy, as well as other forms of clean energy including fuel cells, more accessible to more people. Renters, co-op/condo owners, business and homeowners all have an equal opportunity to save money without actually having the solar panels located on your roof.
